AfricaAfrica - Work is beginning on Phase III of Africa! The third of four phases of what will be the largest animal exhibit in Cincinnati Zoo history.  The completed portion includes an expanded yard for Maasai giraffes, a NEW greater flamingo exhibit and a NEW and improved Cheetah Encounter, where guests will see cheetahs do what they do best – run!

 

The expanded Cat Canyon, set to open summer 2012, will link the Night Hunters experience with the current Tiger Canyon exhibits and include new space for cougars and snow leopards.  The cougar portion of the exhibit is now open and is home to brother cougar cubs.
 

Go Green Garden - The exhibit highlights the Zoo’s green efforts in terms of green building design, energy efficiency, water conservation, storm water management, solid waste management, and land stewardship. Go Green Challenges throughout the exhibit present tangible suggestions for how visitors can address the same issues at home. The Go Green Garden also acts as the hub for botanical information in addition to its emphasis on going green.

 

Gibbon Islands - Gibbons swing on giant jungle gyms.

Giraffe Ridge - Feed snacks to Maasai giraffes.

Gorilla World - Explore the world of the western lowland gorilla.

Jungle Trails - Journey through the forest to peer at primates, including orangutans and bonobos.

Kroger Lords of the Arctic - Come face to face with a polar bear.

Lemur Lookout - Watch ring-tailed lemurs “move it”.

Monkey Island - Join the party with a lively bunch of Japanese macaques, or snow monkeys.

Otto M. Budig Family Foundation Manatee Springs - Celebrate Florida wildlife, including the manatee and American alligator.

Passenger Pigeon Memorial - Pay tribute to Martha, the last known passenger pigeon that passed away at the Zoo in 1914.

Penguin Walkabout - Walk about with little penguins and African penguins.

P&G Discovery Forest - It’s a green world after all, where the two-toed sloth, blue and gold macaw, boa constrictor, and toucan live.

Reptile House - Stroll by the Burmese python, king cobra, and other scaly critters.

Rhino Reserve - Watch black and Indian rhinos wallow in the mud.

Siegfried & Roy’s White Lions of Timbavati - Catch a glimpse of the rare white lion.

Spaulding Children’s Zoo - Feed goats, touch live animals, climb on a spider web, and howl with the wolves.

Spaulding Lorikeet Landing - Feed lorikeets as they land on your head, shoulders, and arms.

Tiger Canyon - Descend into the canyon to view tigers and cheetahs.

Wetland Trails & Swan Lake - Observe trumpeter swans, mallards, and other native wildlife.

Wildlife Canyon & Sumatran Rhino - See the only Sumatran rhinos on display in the nation, along with other hoofed mammals.

Wings of the World - Peek into the lives of king penguins, rhinoceros hornbills, and other winged wonders.

Wolf Woods - Hike through the woods where Mexican wolves and river otters play.

World of the Insect - Stop to appreciate six-legged species like the leaf-cutting ant and the giant walking stick.
