Though millions of domestic camels live in Central Asia, the only truly wild camel remaining is the critically endangered Bactrian camel found in the Gobi Desert of China and Mongolia. The Zoo is helping to conserve the wild camel through financial support contributed to the Wild Camel Protection Foundation (WCPF). WCPF aims to protect the wild camel and its desert home through habitat protection, research, education, breeding and reintroduction.
Have you ever dreamed of meeting a camel up close and personal? Book an Endangered Excursion behind-the-scenes experience! Proceeds from your experience will fund conservation work in the field and help protect camels in the wild.
