Live Bluegrass Music and Lumberjack Show Featured at ZooGrass Festival

CINCINNATI, OH – On Saturday, October 1, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden will welcome the autumn foliage with its first ZooGrass Festival!  Guests will enjoy foot-stompin’, hand-clappin’ Bluegrass music from the tri-state’s favorite bands along with Hank Peter’s Lumberjack Show, delicious Fall fare and handmade crafts, all set in the Zoo’s beautiful autumn gardens.

The Wild Carrot and the Roots Band is first to take the stage at Vine Street Village!  Kicking the Festival off at 11 a.m., this Cincinnati-based award winning group is rooted in traditional American music that branches in diverse directions. Listeners will feel like old friends after listening to their “honest, soothing, uplifting and fun” rhymes. At 12:15 p.m.The Rubber Knife Gang will take the stage. With their release of the debut album, “A Rubber Knife Life”, they have quickly become one of the Greater Cincinnati favorite Americana/roots/blues-grass trios. The Comet Bluegrass All Stars (CBAS) will begin at 1:30 p.m. The CBAS started out in a neighborhood pub on the north side of Cincinnati in 1996. Growing in popularity, they have received several nominations and awards from the

Cincinnati Cammy Awards and CityBeat’s Entertainment Awards.

The afternoon line up starts off with a little “Jamgrass”. The Rumpke Mountain Boys, founded in 2000, have made several local appearances at Tall Stacks, Paddle Fest and the RiverTown Breakdown and will take the stage at 3 p.m. Their spontaneous live shows draw from an ever-growing list of originals mixed with songs from nearly every genre of music. At 4 p.m., Magnolia Mountain will wrap things up on the Vine Street Stage.  Magnolia Mountain is one of Cincinnati’s finest – receiving nominations in 2008, 2009, and 2010 for Cincinnati’s Entertainment Awards. Magnolia Mountain crafts their own original songs by finding a common thread within genres and blending together.

Cecil Jackson and Dry Ridge will take the stage in Safari Camp from Noon – 2 p.m., followed by Blue Country from 3 – 5 p.m.  Hank Peter’s Lumberjack Show takes place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Wings of Wonder Theater.  See speed chain sawing, ax throwing and more!
