Chipotle Will Donate 50% of Sales on April 2 to the Zoo

As part of its commitment to support community education about plants, food and the environment, Chipotle will donate up to $12,500 of sales from its Greater Cincinnati restaurants on April 2

WHO:         Chipotle (Chi-POAT-lay) Mexican Grill, the chain of burrito restaurants committed to serving food made from sustainably raised ingredients; Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden committed to inspiring and educating Cincinnati residents and the surrounding community about the importance of nature and plant culture; and all Cincinnati burrito and nature lovers.

WHAT:        On Tuesday, April 2 visit any Greater Cincinnati Chipotle from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and 50 percent of all sales will benefit the Cincinnati Zoo’s Edible Gardens.

Chipotle_EdibleGarden_FinalThe event is part of an ongoing partnership between Chipotle and the Cincinnati Zoo to educate the region about the importance of the environment, as well as the benefits of sustainable, unprocessed foods. This partnership includes Chipotle’s edible garden at the Zoo, which features fresh produce and will help more than 1.4 million Zoo visitors learn about real food, how it’s grown and where it comes from.

This is Chipotle’s first market-wide fundraiser with the Cincinnati Zoo. Chipotle hopes to donate a total of $12,500 to the Edible Gardens program.

WHY:          As part of its ongoing community efforts, Chipotle often supports like-minded local organizations. The Cincinnati Zoo is committed to providing informative and educational resources that promote environmental stewardship and education. The Edible Gardens concept visibly demonstrates that Cincinnati residents can learn to grow edible gardens in their homes, helping beautify urban areas, including designated food deserts.
