Chipotle Edible Gardens in the Botanical Garden

Posted March 12, 2014

edible_gardenFor the second year, the Chipotle Edible Gardens will be in full bloom this summer!

The three Chipotle Edible Gardens at the Zoo will feature an array of vegetables and herbs, all grown from seed. The gardens are de signed for visitors of all ages to learn about planting foods they can grow and enjoy at home.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden horticulture staff hopes the Edible Gardens will give the Zoo’s 1.5 million annual visitors an appreciation for how easy it is to grow a large variety of food plants in the Cincinnati area.  The Zoo and Chipotle have teamed up through the Edible Gardens to offer information about real food – how it’s grown, the importance of the environment food comes from, and most of all, the benefits of sustainable, unprocessed foods.

Guests are invited to sample produce from the Chipotle Edible Gardens on an upcoming visit to the Zoo. New produce should be growing by mid-May 2014, depending on weather conditions.
