Bleed For a Cause Campaign Kicks Off July 1^st

CINCINNATI – (June 12, 2014) The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is excited to partner with Hoxworth Blood Center for its second annual Bleed for a Cause campaign.  Over 60 local nonprofits are competing to see who can score the most points by recruiting blood donors. The charity who wins the recruitment contest will receive $10,000! More importantly, by donating just one hour of your time and blood in July you’ll be helping patients in local hospitals and saving lives.

Participants can donate at any of Hoxworth’s eight neighborhood centers or community drives.  Annually, Hoxworth collects over 90,000 units of blood from local donors. At least 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet donors are essential each day to keep up with the demands of tri-state hospitals and their patients.
