galapogasGalapagos Islands, August 20-28, 2017
Led by the Zoo’s Director of Education and Volunteer Departments, Dan Marsh

Witness the architectural masterpieces of Quito Colonial City before you are escorted at the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands, where you will meet up by your naturalist guide. For the next five days, you will bear witness to our planet’s most captivating wildlife; for example, their namesake, the 600-pound tortoises, which in the Spanish language, are called Galapagos. You’ll be mesmerized by the awe-inspiring landscapes and misty volcanic peaks. The underwater world is equally enchanting. Wildlife here also includes Sea lions, Galápagos Fur seals, Galápagos Penguins, Blue-footed and Nazca Boobies and Noddy Terns. This area has a very rich marine life, and is seasonally visited by green sea turtles. The Galapagos Islands have touched the hearts and imaginations of Lord Byron, Charles Darwin and countless others – why not you?

manitobaManitoba, Canada, November 10-16, 2017
Led by the Zoo’s CREW Reproductive Physiologist, Dr. Erin Curry
Your journey begins as you gather in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Next a short flight will take you to Churchill, located 700 miles to the north (the same latitude of Stockholm, Sweden.). From October through mid-November, more than 1,200 bears migrate from their summer ranges along the bay south of Churchill up to the capes where the ice forms the earliest and will support their weight so they can begin their annual hunt for seals, their primary source of food. From here, you’ll travel the tundra, looking for polar bears and other fascinating wildlife. Exploring on the tundra buggies is an adventure in of itself. These all-terrain vehicles lumber across the tundra at a leisurely pace. Expert guides accompany you, leading you through the wilderness to discover the polar bears. On one of the evenings in Churchill (weather permitting) you will return to the tundra to view the infamous Northern Lights.

Information regarding itineraries, costs and other details for each travel option will be available at the information session.
