Enjoy FREE admission for military on Memorial Day

CINCINNATI, OH – (May 26, 2017) Spend a memorable Memorial Day weekend at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden!  Summer Adventure at the Cincinnati Zoo, presented by Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Honda Dealers, kicks off on Saturday, May 27, with the return of summer encounters, extended hours and the new National Geographic Photo Ark exhibition!  All members of the military — active and retired — will receive FREE admission to the Zoo on Monday, May 29.*

The spectacular Ameritas Wings of Wonder Bird Encounter is back with performances at 1pm and 3pm, Wednesdays – Sundays, and cheetahs will reach top speeds during the Kroger Cheetah Encounter in the Cathryn Hilker Running Yard twice daily (excluding Wednesdays & Thursdays). Visitors will encounter some new animals at the Zoo this summer, like Mike the wildebeest that will be joining other hoofstock in the Africa savannah next week, and hear keepers talk about their favorite subject – the animals they care for – in chats scheduled throughout the day. Feeding opportunities include giraffes and camels.  Check out the shows and encounters schedule.

“Everyone wants to see baby hippo Fiona,” said Zoo Director Thane Maynard. “Her care team is working hard to prepare her for her public debut, but she’s not quite ready.  When she does finally venture out, Fiona fans will have to be patient and understand that she may only be out for short periods and may or may not be visible. Fortunately, there are many other animals to see and so much to do here at the Zoo.”

Zoo Babies continues through this weekend, so look for giant storks throughout the Zoo. Malayan tiger cubs, painted dog pups, Moyo the okapi and Meg the takin are among the must-see babies. Gorillas make their summer debut when Gorilla World reopens in early June.  Bring your dad on Father’s Day, when dad’s get free admission, to see Jomo the silverback gorilla and his kids!

Zoo summer hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. from May 27 – September 4. Early entry for members and Zoo Adventure Ticket (ZAT) holders begins at 9am. For more information visit www.cincinnatizoo.org.
