Hanging onto a tree trunk with its large, ridged toe pads, a Henkel’s leaf-tailed gecko is barely discernable from the bark. Flaps of skin along the edge of the head and body disguise the gecko’s outline. Resembling a dead leaf, the tail can break off to allow a quick escape and regenerate later.
