Malayan Leaf Katydid (Giant Katydid)

Macrolyristes corporalis

Up to six inches long, the Malayan leaf katydid is the largest of its kind.  During the day, this green leaf mimic hides out in the trees.  At night the male sings or produces a noise by rubbing its wing edges together (called stridulation) to produce an extremely loud, high-pitched advertisement for a mate.
