How well do YOU know your Cincinnati Zoo? The moniker of “second oldest Zoo in the nation” comes with a lot of history and some pretty epic tales! Step back in time with Zoo animal care and trainer veteran of 50 years, Gary Denzler, as he leads you on a fun and factual story-based historical tour of the Cincinnati Zoo, sharing tales of the people and animals that have made this Zoo what it is today. This program is geared toward participants 16 years and older.

Come join us for an experiential program that will transport you to Africa through unique opportunities only available for Twiga guests. You will start of the evening with drinks and hors d’oeuvres and then begin the tour which includes special encounters with some of our African Zoo animals. We also offer overnights for families & scouts.

Then, your adventure continues with a special, behind-the-scenes peeks, during which you will learn what it takes to keep our animals happy and fed.  We’ll finish your experience by winding down around the bonfire before settling in for the night in one of four African safari tents on comfortable cot bunk beds. The morning begins with a continental breakfast, complete with a waffle bar, then you will wrap up this unique experience with a close encounter with our Giraffes. Participants must be 21 years or older.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring sleeping gear (sleeping bag and pillow), toiletries (no showers available), water bottle, cash if purchasing additional drinks, and comfortable clothes.

What is included with the ticket?

Behind the scenes tour
Sleeping arrangements in our African Safari Tents
Tasty waffle bar in the morning
Admission to the Zoo after your program ends at 9am

Note: Participants must be 21 years of age or older. Our tents sleep up to 10 and there will be others outside of your group sleeping in the tent.

Wildlife photography can be one of the most fun and rewarding hobbies around and who could be better to learn from than professional photographer and Zoo horticulturist, Brian Jorg. This class, geared towards beginner photographers, will blend technical expertise with knowledge of wildlife and the Zoo’s collection. You will learn how to get the most out of your camera and how understanding animal behavior will improve your photographs. Then, we will venture out into the Zoo to test your skills. Participants must provide their own cameras.
