TRIBE stands for Teen Recruits Inspiring By Example, and as a member of the TRIBE, that's exactly what you'll be doing! The goal of Teen TRIBE is to foster leadership and genuine excitement in teens to learn more about our natural world - and to share that knowledge with others! As TRIBE members, teens learn how to become leaders among their peers, how to take personal responsibility for engaging the public in environmental education, and how to cooperate with team members to develop exciting activities to share with the public! This one-of-a-kind program offers both summer and year-round positions, and gives teens a real taste of what it's like to work in one of the world's best Zoos!
TRIBE members are based in the Children's Zoo, but fill many roles in various pots around the Zoo. Teens begin their TRIBE careers as "Fungineers", helping our young guests learn about wildlife and have fun during their visit to the Children's Zoo. As they become accomplished at each job level, teens are given more responsibilities in higher-tier positions that include working in the goat yard, engaging the public with interactive animal encounters, and serving as Junior Keepers who work as junior partners with Children's Zoo keepers. Teens choosing to work year round will be able to apply for a coveted Leader Teen position, a role filled by only a hand full of qualified teens.
If you're between the ages of 13 and 17 and want to have a lot of fun in an exciting volunteer program that will help you stand out above the crowd, then apply to become a member of the TRIBE! For additional details and the VolunTeen application click here.
