50th Gorilla Born at the Cincinnati Zoo Gets Name

CINCINNATI, OH (September 7, 2015) – A female gorilla born at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden on August 25, 2015, will be called “Elle.”  Gorilla keepers suggested two names for the baby, the 50th born at the Zoo, and friends/followers voted for their favorite.  Elle grabbed two-thirds of the 2,500 votes.

Giraffe Nasha Heading to the Nashville Zoo

CINCINNATI, OH (September 3, 2015) –The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s 1-year-old giraffe Nasha will be heading to her new home at the Nashville Zoo, in Nashville, TN, later this month to join a herd primarily comprised of females and their young.

The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) has recommended Nasha’s transfer for breeding purposes. Nasha will provide her new herd with genetic diversity that makes her a good fit for breeding.

CINCINNATI (September 1, 2015) – It’s a big day in Gorilla World at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden! One-week-old Western lowland gorilla, who is yet to be named, got to explore the outdoor exhibit with her group.  The baby girl was born on August 29 at 7:10am to dad Jomo and mom Anju.
