Cincinnati Zoo Wins Green Business Awards!
Last Thursday, honorees for the Business Courier 2014 Green Business Awards gathered at the Sharonville Convention Center, the region’s only LEED certified event center to celebrate green practices, green building, green advocacy, and green services/products. It is a great event for businesses and organizations to come together and share best practices, challenges, and celebrate our successes.
The Cincinnati Zoo’s Base Camp Café (Greenest Restaurant in the US!!) took home two awards that evening –
- Green Practice/Nonprofit Award
- People’s Choice Award for best project (thanks to all who voted online)
Congratulations SSA for leading the charge in earning the green restaurant certification, and for this much deserved award.

It wasn’t the first time the Zoo took home some bling from the Green Business awards. Last year we won in the Green Building Nonprofit category for our solar canopy, as well as the Green Practice Nonprofit category for our sustainability program.
