Have an Ice Day During Penguin Days at the Cincinnati Zoo

Enjoy discounted Zoo admission and PENGUINS!

CINCINNATI, OH (January 18, 2021) — Bundle up and save a bundle during Penguin Days starting today at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, featuring king penguins marching in Penguin Parades* Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and holiday Mondays.

“We opened two new habitats for our warm weather penguins, little blues and African, in 2020.  Now it’s time to celebrate their cold-weather counterparts,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard. “The king penguins, appropriately including Coretta Scott and Martin Luther on MLK Day, kicked off Penguin Days today with a spectacular, slow march in front of the bird house.”

For the safety of guests, penguins, and the bird team, the #BestParadeInAmerica will be a little different this year.  Instead of following along and/or joining the parade behind the kings, visitors will be asked to stay in one place, six feet away from others, and enjoy watching the penguins waddle by.

Also new this year, the bird team will offer encounters with Magellanic and rockhopper penguins on non-parade days. Parades and encounters will take place daily at 11 a.m. outside of the Wings of the World Bird House.
Guests can also warm up indoors and see insects, bonobos, nocturnal animals, monitors of all sizes, and reptiles. Don’t forget to visit Gorilla World to see gorillas interact and explore in their indoor habitat!

The Cincinnati Zoo opens daily at 10 a.m. starting today.  Zoo admission is discounted through March 12. Reservations are required and masks must be worn while at the Zoo. For more information, visit www.cincinnatizoo.org.

*It must be below 50 degrees for the penguins to participate in the parades.  Bright Side:  If it’s too warm for parades, it’s warm enough for Fiona to be out!
