Local Teens Helping Polar Bears

Posted April 2, 2012

The 2011-2012 Project Polar Bear Contest has ended, and the Bi-national winners will be announced by Polar Bear International on April 16. Nine of the 35 teams registered to participate in the contest are affiliated with the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW).

All teams worked hard on projects designed to encourage Saving Energy, Reforestation, Zero Waste by recycling and composting, and Closing the Loop by recycling and buying recycled products.

The CREW Conservation Committee reviewed the success reports submitted by our local teams, and determined Team Impact (South Dearborn HS) to be our Regional Winner. Trashless Trio (Roger Bacon HS) are the Runner-ups, and Cats for Cubs (Springfield HS) and ZA Save a Tree (Zoo Academy) receive Honorable Mention.

Congratulations to all participating teams.  You ALL make a difference!!
