More about the beer and the craft series from Christian Moerlein Brewing Co.:

CINCINNATI, OH – December 3, 2014 –The Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. announces the kick-off of Bay Of Bengal Double India Pale Ale (DIPA) as part of its new Seasonal Craft Beer Can Series. The beer will be available beginning December 8th throughout greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Lexington and Louisville in new 12 ounce cans that pay tribute to the Bengal Tiger and the Bay of Bengal region, which is the last great stronghold for the earth’s most formidable terrestrial predator.

Moerlein Bay of Bengal DIPA is a hop forward beer that leaves just a hint of bitterness, preparing the palate for the next crisp and refreshing sip. Its blend of Falconer’s Flight, Centennial and Cascade hops create an intense blend of citrus notes with a subtle hint of pine. The 2-row malt blend offers a dry body with a nice orange hue that allows the complex hop character to assert itself. Vital Stats include: OG 19.15, ABV 8.9%, SRM 6.2 and IBUs of 126. Christian Moerlein Brewer Tom Hull explains the new Moerlein Bay of Bengal DIPA, “Likes cold days, warm fires, and football.”

The striking orange and black can design shows the endangered Bengal Tiger in a jungle setting, while the name of the beer “Bay of Bengal” notes the region in which the Bengal Tiger live. Can copy states:

The remaining wilderness surrounding the Indian Ocean’s Bay of Bengal is the last great stronghold for the earth’s most formidable terrestrial predator: The Bengal Tiger. Aggressively hopped, yet surprisingly delicate, this Double India Pale Ale offers a juxtaposition of two opposing forces. Crack open a can. Cry out with a roar. Revel in the partnership of ferocious and the serene. Enjoy.

The new Moerlein Bay of Bengal Double IPA beer will have two preview events on December 7th and an official launch party on December 8th (the date the beer will be available in select markets) where a portion of sales from Bay of Bengal Double IPA will support the care of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s tigers.
