The Project Saving Species goal in promoting cell phone recycling in the school community is to provide a tool to encourage service learning while incorporating conservation action.  Servicing learning provides three powerful cognitive outcomes – learning about teamwork and working positively with others, values and working towards a common goal, and students also learn about themselves, boosting their self-worth and self-esteem.
