COVID-19 Protocol FAQ

What will be required to attend a program?

All attendees will get their temperature checked prior to entering the building. A Zoo employee will use a touchless thermometer. All attendees and Zoo employees will be required to wear masks at all times, except while eating or drinking.

Are there any exceptions to wearing masks ?

Any participant must wear a mask. It is our priority to keep all attendees, animals and staff safe. Live animal encounters allow attendees to be up close and personal with a variety of animals, including mammals that may be susceptible to the disease.

Will I be grouped with other attendees?

For Sunset Safaris: Yes, Zoo Educators will lead groups of about 10. You and your registration group may be placed with other attendees.

For Cart Tours: No, your group will have a private cart tour with a Zoo Educator. No other groups will join you.

What is your cleaning protocol?

The Cincinnati Zoo staff will be cleaning shared spaces (like bathrooms) with approved COVID-19 cleaning supplies, following CDC guidelines. Staff and attendees will utilize hand washing or hand sanitizer throughout the program.

Will groups be socially distanced?

Attendees are not required to maintain 6′ distance within their group as per CDC guidelines. However, each group will remain a safe distance apart at all times.  Shared spaces will be disinfected between use. Attendees will be using private restrooms not accessible to the general public.

Will I be around members of the public?

The Zoo closes at 5pm and will not be open to the public. There may be times when another event is happening around the Zoo in which Zoo Educators will do their best to maintain a safe distance.

Will time be spend time indoors?

Programs will have a variety of indoor and outdoor experiences. However, your group will spend the majority of the program outdoors for activities, hikes, and games.
