Donate Blood in February and Pick Your Cause

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is excited to partner with Hoxworth Blood Center for its Bleed for a Cause campaign.  Over 60 local nonprofits are competing to see who can score the most points by recruiting blood donors. The charity who wins the recruitment contest will receive $10,000! By donating one hour of your time and blood in February, you’ll be helping patients in local hospitals while raising money for the charity of your choice.

Donate at any of Hoxworth’s eight neighborhood centers or community drives and mention you are donating to the Zoo’s campaign. Or join employees at the Cincinnati Zoo on Tuesday, February 12 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm to donate blood at the Zoo’s onsite drive. In appreciation of your generous blood donation in honor of the Zoo, the Zoo will offer two general admission tickets ($30 value) good through December 31, 2013.

Annually, Hoxworth collects over 90,000 units of blood from local donors. At least 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet donors are essential each day to keep up with the demands of tri-state hospitals and their patients.

To make a donation appointment with Hoxworth, go online to www.hoxworth.org/groups/zoo. If you have questions on whether or not you are eligible to donate blood, please visit Hoxworth online at http://www.hoxworth.org/donate_blood/eligibility.html.

Remember to tell Hoxworth the Cincinnati Zoo recruited you to ensure your donation counts toward the Zoo.
