CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Executive Director, Thane Maynard, along with the Zoo’s Chief Operating Officer, David Jenike, and Senior Director of Facilities & Planning, Mark Fisher, accepted the Super Nova Award last night at the 2010 Evening with the Stars of Energy Efficiency Awards Dinner in Washington DC.

The 18^th annual black-tie gala, which took place at the Donald W. Reynolds Center,  recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate an exemplary and creative commitment to advancing energy efficiency.

The tri of Zoo representatives biked in their tuxedos to the energy efficiency event, proving once again that the Cincinnati Zoo is committed to going green. “The Zoo is proud to be recognized among the leading green individuals and organizations in this country,” said Thane Maynard. “We take our title as the “Greenest Zoo in America” very seriously & we plan to keep that title for years to come.”

The awards dinner has become a highly anticipated event in the energy efficiency community, typically drawing more than 500 energy leaders from industry, government and academia. With an ever-increasing global demand for energy, there has never been a greater time to pause and recognize the efforts of those working to advance energy efficiency.

The Super Nova Award recognizes organizations/companies, learning institutions, state offices, and government programs with less than $150 million in annual revenue for their efforts to promote energy efficiency.
