CINCINNATI – Whether you have a passion for travel, exotic destinations, or wildlife, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s 2011 Travel Series has the perfect voyage for you!

From the rainforests of South America to the deserts of Africa, there is a world of wonder waiting for you to explore. The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden offers exciting and educational wildlife travel adventures in 2011 escorted by Cincinnati Zoo staff. You can learn about travel packages from the African savannah to the remote region of the Amazon Rainforest for FREE on March 3, 2011 at 6 p.m. Or come enjoy a wine tasting at the complimentary session on March 8, 2011 at 6 p.m. to learn about trips to South Africa.

Discover the native wildlife of Tanzania, departing June 19. This wildlife safari is specifically designed to take full advantage of the wildlife migration. Visit a variety of East Africa’s wildlife habitats, each with its unique community of birds and mammals, scenic attractions, and cultural components. Your means of transportation will be a customized 4-wheel drive safari vehicle with a guaranteed window seat and access to the roof hatch for all participants.

Experience the world’s largest and most biologically diverse wilderness – The Amazon, departing August 5. Look at a map of South America and you will see that the northern half of this continent is covered by rain forests, swamps and rivers of which the 4,200 mile long Amazon River forms the backbone. This is the home of the 3-toed sloth, tapirs, agoutis, several species of monkeys, thousands of tropical birds, two species of fresh water dolphins, more kinds of fish than are found in the entire Atlantic Ocean, and an abundance of other exotic wildlife. In short, an expedition to the Amazon rainforests is a naturalist’s dream come true and your experience will be enhanced by our outstanding naturalist guides. Join our discovery safari to the Amazon rainforest and let us open your eyes to the beauty and mystery of this complex ecosystem.

Learn the history, culture and wildlife of India and Bhutan, departing October 5. Bordered on the north by the Himalaya Mountains and by plateaus, and on the south by tropical rain forests and sandy deserts, this is a trip not to miss. Due to the melding of ancient civilizations, coexistence of several religions and local traditions, India & Bhutan’s staggering topographical features are matched by their cultural diversity. Join us as we search for tigers, take guided nature walks, meet wildlife researchers, visit world heritage sites at the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and Taj Mahal, and fly to the mountain kingdom of Bhutan (sometimes referred to as the World’s last Shangri la). Here, more than 70% of the country’s original forests remain intact and pristine; designated as one of the world’s top 10 “biodiversity hotspots”. Bhutan’s forests host more than 5,500 species of plants and more than 700 bird species, including some of the most exotic and endemic species in the eastern Himalayas.
