Travel Evenings being held January 10th and January 17th

CINCINNATI – Plan a trip of a lifetime! If you have a passion for travel, exotic destinations, or wildlife, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s 2013 Travel Series has the perfect adventure for you!

There is a world of wonder waiting for you to explore in Africa’s savannahs. The Cincinnati Zoo offers exciting and educational wildlife travel adventures in 2013 escorted by Zoo staff. Put on your adventure cap and join the Zoo for a FREE information session on January 10, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the upcoming safari to Kenya. Stacy Fiorentinos, President of Classic Escapes, will share her knowledge and personal experiences on the various camps, activities and adventures that will take place on this exciting journey to Kenya. In addition, Stacey will be available to answers all questions regarding the trip.

To learn about travel packages to South Africa’s Namibia and Botswana, a FREE information session will be held on January 17, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. This session will include Dick Mills, President of World Discovery Safaris, who will be able to discuss the various reservation sites and parks that will be visited. Questions regarding the trip can be answered during the presentation.

Experience a classic safari by traveling to Kenya, departing June 21. Luxury tented camps with modern amenities coupled with the amazing wildlife evoke the romance of Out of Africa. Led by Doug Feist, Conservation Education Animal Manager at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, your journey will take you from the animal sanctuaries in Nairobi to the “Jewel of Africa,” the Maasai Mara, and everything that Kenya has to offer. See the colorful Samburu people in the Samburu Reserve, learn of the conservation efforts of the Chimpanzee sanctuary in Sweetwaters and witness the amazing concentration of flamingos in Lake Nakuru. This is Kenya at its finest.

Take an adventure to Namibia and Botswana, departing June 15. Led by Brian Jorg, Manager of Horticulture, this 15-day Southern African Safari has been designed to provide you with an incredible wildlife adventure. In Namibia, you will visit the internationally recognized Cheetah Conservation Fund, developed under the direction of Dr. Laurie Marker and supported by the Cincinnati Zoo. In Etosha, three full days will be spent at one of Southern Africa’s best loved wildlife sanctuaries, before flying to Victoria Falls and the renowned safari paradise of Botswana. Here, you will explore Chobe National Park, home to the largest elephant herds in the world and the Mapula private wildlife sanctuary in the northwestern flood plains of the Okavango Delta, with its lily-covered lagoons, and teeming savannas. Botswana’s un-tourist filled and immense wildlife areas offer world class viewing on bush walks, with a guide and tracker, from open vehicles, on night drives and by mokoro (dugout canoe). In joining the Cincinnati Zoo’s Southern Africa Wildlife Safari, you will experience an unspoiled land of timeless beauty – striking salt pans, diamond-rich deserts, fertile food plains, vast bush and grasslands, all punctuated with an astoundingly prolific variety of African wildlife.
