CINCINNATI, OH (May 28, 2021) – Summer Adventure at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, presented by Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Honda Dealers, kicks off tomorrow with the return of the spectacular Ameritas Bird Experience and more opportunities to catch the popular Barnyard Bonanza.

“This will be the first time in two years that visitors will get to see our amazing birds fly right above them in the Wings of Wonder Theater,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard. “If you’re sitting in the right place, you’ll feel a breeze as the rhinoceros hornbill passes by! Visitors also won’t want to miss cheetahs running at full speed in the Kroger Cheetah Encounter, which started back up last month and is getting rave reviews!”

In addition to the FREE experiences, there are new opportunities to add a Wild Encounter or go behind the scenes in different animal areas. It’s also fun, and great for members, to just walk around to see what your favorite animals are up to.

“Some members come for short visits several times a week, just to see Fiona, or AJ the baby rhino, or insects, or reptiles,” said Maynard.  “This has been a little more difficult with the reservation system, but members will be glad to know that they will no longer need to make reservations starting June 2! General admission guests will still need to make reservations.”

This summer, visitors will enjoy some new food options in The Grove, its outdoor dining

dining and snack area that features food trucks serving delicious tacos, chicken, burgers, and ice cream! Hops, which opened in October of 2019, features gourmet pizzas and craft beers.  And, Base Camp Café has reopened and offers a mobile ordering option.

Zoo Babies presented by Dawn, continues through the end of the month. Starting June 2, masks will only be required in close human-animal contact areas.  These include giraffe feedings, goat yard, and tortoise interactions. Pack a mask if you want to do it all!

The Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Members enjoy early entry starting at 9 a.m. For more information visit www.cincinnatizoo.org.
