Sustainable Urban Landscapes Symposium – February 2014

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is excited to announce the next portion of the Excellence in Horticultural Education Symposium Series. On Thursday, February 27, the third annual Sustainable Urban Landscapes Symposium will be held at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Come and enjoy an upbeat, daylong event with expert speakers from across the region. This year’s program will feature three talks related to pollinator issues and an afternoon multi-expert session on how to achieve success with tree planting programs – which will extend to a full panel discussion afterwards.

The symposium also will include talks on the Zoo’s Aquaponics Greenhouse and sustainable success with fruits. This year’s speakers include Dr. Hannah Mathers, OSU; Barbara Bloetscher, Ohio’s State Apiarist; Denise Ellsworth, OSU Extension expert on pollinators; Joe Boggs, OSU Extension Hamilton County; Nate Faris, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful; Tom Borgman, Great Parks of Hamilton County; Mark Leopold, NKU Center for Environmental Restoration; Gary Gao, OSU Extension and expert on fruits; Dan Divelbiss, aquaponics expert, and more.

Tickets include the Sustainable Urban Landscapes program, parking, Cincinnati Zoo entry, lunch, and snacks. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and talks start at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a social hour after the program from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Registration costs $49.00 and ends on February 24, so get your tickets today!
