Composting

Join the greenest Zoo in America to learn about ways you can save energy, conserve water, reduce waste, and be good stewards of the environment.

  • April 17, 2012: Backyard Composting

The Greenest Zoo in America has been composting as much of their organic waste as possible – at least 8 tons a week! You can compost too. This spring, the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District will move around to different communities throughout the county and offer an hour‐long evening seminar focusing on the basics of backyard composting. On April 17th at 6:30pm, they will be at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden! You will learn how to balance a compost bin, what materials are compostable, and some troubleshooting. There will also be time to answer your composting questions. At the end of the hour, Hamilton County residents will receive a free kitchen collector, I ♥ Compost magnet as well as a $20 coupon redeemable at partnering stores toward the purchase of a compost bin.
