Do you bring animals to events?

  • Yes, all events will come with one complimentary animal appearance from our Category A animals. Additional animals can be requested. Animal availability is based on animal cooperation, weather, handler availability, set up of venue and/or location. Animal care staff has the final decision on the animal for the visit. See animal appearance menu.

What venue spaces can be rented out in the daytime while the Zoo is open to the public?

  • Frisch’s Theater, Treetops Meeting Suites, Twiga, Clubhouse, and our Picnic Shelter area are able to be rented during the daytime. All of these venue spaces can also be rented out in the evening time.

Can I rent out an animal habitat (Hippo Cove, Giraffe Ridge, etc.) for my group during daytime opening hours?

  • No – all events taking place at public areas around the Zoo are not allowed to be closed down for a private event. All events at these locations will need to start no earlier than 6pm (6:30pm for Hippo Cove).

Is there a minimum number of guests required?

What are the baseline costs required to host?

  • The earliest an event can start is 7:00am and the latest it can end is 11:00pm. If your event begins prior to normal opening hours (9am or 10am depending on the season), there is a $150 Early Arrival Fee added to the invoice.

How much notice do you need to book my event?

  • We do not book events less than 30 days prior to the event. We always recommend 3-4 months-notice for events, so we can make sure all details are squared away in an appropriate amount of time, along with making sure your dates and location needs are met. Picnic Saturday dates go fast, so the earlier the better. Prime picnic season is June-August.

When is final guest count due?

  • Final guest count is due no later than 15 days prior to the event. At this time, we request tickets to be printed and the Group is responsible for distributing prior to the event.

How are event tickets distributed?

  • The Group is responsible for all ticket distribution prior to the event. Tickets are requesting once the final guest count is received 15 days prior. Tickets take a minimum 2 business days to print. Once printed, there are 2 options:
  • Zoo Event Coordinator can leave them in Will-Call for one individual from the Group to pick up prior to the event to distribute accordingly.
  • Zoo Event Coordinator can send them via USPS for a $12 mailing fee.

Do you offer non-profit pricing?

  • We offer discounted venue rental and ticket prices, with proof of non-profit status upon booking. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information.

What if there is bad weather the day of my event?

  • Events go rain or shine! Depending on group size and venue availability, there may be an opportunity to be able to move your event inside, but no guarantees. All rain plan decisions will need to be made at least 48 hours prior to the event date.
