Join the Troop
These once-a-week for 4 weeks classes for toddlers through 8th graders develop curiosity, create empathy, encourage healthy social skills, and grow self esteem. Immersed in fun, educational, wildlife-rich experiences, Zoo Troop fosters caring, confident young people who know and love the wild world around them.
We explore a new interactive topic each series, where we identify specific steps or skills that your child will achieve, and a key purpose statement. The same knowledgeable Zoo instructor will teach each week of the Zoo Troop series which will allow your child to form a positive relationship with their instructor.
FAQs
In order to stay in compliance with the room capacity limits, we may only have one grownup attend with one child, but the other grownup(s) are welcome to join the group on their hike out into the Zoo!
Our programs are designed specifically with the developmental, emotional, and learning needs of our participants in mind. We ask that only the registered child attends the class. If there is an extenuating circumstance, please reach out to our registration team.
Zoo Troop focuses on the whole development of the child, including their social and emotional learning. Our curricula are tailored to suit their developmental needs with age-appropriate content. For the best experience of the participants, we recommend they stay in their grade band that corresponds with age.
We encourage participants to coordinate ahead of time to select the same class section as their friends during the Registration Process. Our class rosters are created 8 business days before the start of program session, and moving Zoo Troopers between groups after that point cannot be guaranteed.
Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in making up a missed class. If there are available spots in a class occurring on another day that week, from the same age group, then we can accommodate that request, but we need to know in advance. If there aren’t any open spots, then we will notify you only if a spot becomes available.
Participants may park in our Education Lot near the Harold C. Schott Education Building at 52 Erkenbrecher Avenue and enter through Education Gate 1.
Classes will open their doors approximately 10 minutes before as our instructors prepare for the day.
