Sumatran Rhino “Harapan”
Join the Zoo in celebrating and conserving the world’s five species of rhino during World Rhino Day! This special day is designed to spotlight our world’s rhinos and the problems they face, as well as give visitors an opportunity to get involved.
Visitors can learn about endangered rhinos through family activities, crafts, discovery stations, rhino animal encounters, and special animal demonstrations. An exciting Rhino Raffle and Rhino Marketplace will also be available.
*No special ticket required. World Rhino Day festivities are included with each general admission ticket.*
Find some dirt, add water and have fun- rhino style. Submit your muddiest pics or videos on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #MuddyForRhinos, and we’ll choose our favorite. The winner will get to meet a Cincinnati Zoo Rhino Behind the Scenes! Contest starts Sept. 8 and ends Sept. 19. Winner will be announced at our World Rhino Day Celebration on Sept. 21. Presence during announcement is not required.
Flex your creative muscles while helping the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden promote rhino conservation. This contest is open to public, private or home school students. Prizes will be awarded to one student in each of these four grade groups: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12
Posters will measure 16” x 20” (no larger)
There must be a 3” x 5” card/entry blank securely fastened to the back of the poster which includes the grade category, full name of school, address, city, state, zip, teacher or parent name, teacher or parent email address, phone. Please print clearly.
Poster must be student’s original artwork, and may not incorporate any photographs, magazine, or newspaper illustrations, no computer aided or copy machine poster entries.
2014 Contest Theme: Save the Rhinos
Poster category by grade: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12
This contest is open to public, private or home school students
Posters must be received at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden no later than September 18th. The best way to send/deliver the poster is flat, between taped sheets of cardboard. Do not send/deliver posters rolled in a tube.

Posters will be accepted between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Education Center. The entrance to the building is located off of Erkenbrecher Avenue. Directions to Education Center (pdf)

Winners will be announced at our World Rhino Day celebration on Sunday, September 21st.
Prizes will be awarded for each division as follows:
Best of Show: $50.00 + 4 Zoo tickets His/her poster will hang be on display in the Education Building.
1st Place winner in each division: $25.00 + 4 Zoo tickets
All entries become the property of the CZBG and cannot be returned.
