Right here at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, a team of researchers led by CREW Director, Dr. Terri Roth, are racing against the clock to save the polar bear. Leading a team of 16 zoos across the continental United States, CREW researchers are saving polar bears with science. Through extensive hormone research, they hope to create a successful captive breeding program while extending their research to bears in the wild.
In 2012, we asked you to join us in the Polar Bear Challenge as we worked to raise $35,000 by December 31st to be matched by two generous supporters - the Reuben Herzfeld Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the Young Family Foundation. We are thrilled to report that you not only helped us to meet the Challenge but exceed it!
Thanks to the outstanding support from our community, the 2012 Polar Bear Challenge raised a total of $41,131! We are grateful to the Reuben Herzfeld Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the Young Family Foundation who have pledged to match this amount up to $35,000, bringing our grand total for the 2012 Polar Bear Challenge to $76,131!
Thank you for taking the step to support CREW’s crucial research to save one of the world’s most beautiful and charismatic species – the polar bear.
