The blue duiker is one of Africa’s smallest antelope species, standing only about 12–16 inches tall at the shoulder. Despite its name, its coat is typically a grayish-blue color. Blue duikers live in the forests of central and southern Africa, where they use their small size and agility to move through dense vegetation. Shy and secretive by nature, blue duikers are most active during the day and are often difficult to spot in the wild.
Did you Know?
Blue duikers communicate with other duikers in a variety of ways. To scent-mark territory, they rub the glands beneath their eyes on trees and logs. They can ``chirp`` like a bird when curious and even whistle when avoiding a mate's advances.
