One of three venomous snakes found in Ohio, the Northern copperhead only bites in defense when directly threatened.  Bites are rarely fatal, though can cause pain and sickness.  A ground-dwelling snake, it is difficult to spot amongst a blanket of fallen leaves so step carefully!
