Tickets for Cincinnati Zoo’s Barrows Conservation Lecture Series Available Now!
Topics include human-wildlife coexistence and comeback stories
CINCINNATI, OH (January 10, 2023) – Tickets for Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Barrows Conservation Lecture Series are available now! Since 1993, the Zoo has brought a slate of esteemed naturalists and scientists to Cincinnati to address wildlife issues and global conservation efforts. With the addition of a virtual option, people all over the world can attend the lectures!
“We’re excited to welcome four guest lecturers this year,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard. “Speaker Kate (Phillips) Davis began her avian life right here at the Cincinnati Zoo with the Junior Zoologist Club.”
Limited seats are available for the in-person lectures, which will take place in the Zoo’s Frisch’s Theater at 7pm. Series tickets are $55 for members, $63 for non-members, and $21 for virtual. Individual tickets are $18 for non-members, $16 for members, and only $7 for virtual attendees.

Wednesday, March 22: Dr. Tom Smith, Living in Harmony with Bears- Insights from the Field and Lab
Dr. Smith is a professor of Wildlife Sciences at Brigham Young University in Utah, where he has taught for the past 16 years. His research focuses on human-wildlife conflict and a thread that weaves throughout all his work is the promotion of human safety and bear conservation.
Wednesday, April 5: Maggie Dwire, Mexican Wolves: Back from the Brink
Maggie Dwire is the Deputy Mexican Wolf Recovery Coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Maggie’s responsibilities include recovery and management of the Mexican wolf both in the wild and as liaison to the binational breeding program.
Wednesday, April 19: Kate Davis, 50 Years as a Junior Zoologist
Kate (Phillips) Davis began her avian life here at the Cincinnati Zoo with the Junior Zoologist Club. Kate founded the education program Raptors of the Rockies 35 years ago and still runs the program. She has authored and illustrated seven books, including Falcons of North America and Raptors of the West.
Wednesday, May 3: Dr. Leno Davis, Local Science for Global Impact
Dr. Davis is the Senior Scientist and Policy Analyst at the Bahamas National Trust. Davis strengthens formal science with local perspectives to achieve conservation success.
