Cincinnati Zoo Offers Free Admission for First Responders and Military 9/11 – 9/17
CINCINNATI, OH (September 9, 2022) — The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is honoring those who protect our community by offering free admission to all active fire, police, and safety personnel September 11 – 17. The offer will also be extended to active and retired military.
“We appreciate the work that all first responders do to keep our community safe, and especially the police and firefighters who are always quick to respond when we need them at the Zoo” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard.
To kick off First Responders Week, Cincinnati Fire Department Ladder Co. 32 will give the elephants at the Cincinnati Zoo a special firehose bath at 12pm on September 11.
“We love being out and about in our community and enjoy interacting with Zoo visitors when we come out to kick off First Responders Week,” said Eric Freel, Cincinnati Fire Captain. “It gives us the opportunity to provide a refreshing experience for the elephants and answer questions about what a firefighter does. People are always curious about how much the giant hose weighs!”
During First Responders Week qualified personnel* may also purchase admission tickets at 50% off for up to six family members. Since our staff must verify ID and eligibility, tickets cannot be purchased/reserved online and must be picked up at the Zoo.
*Individuals who qualify for free admission include firefighters, EMTs, uniformed police officers, state troopers, border patrol agents, investigators, evidence technicians, firearms examiners, crime lab technicians, 911 dispatchers, correction officers, handwriting examiners, intelligence analysts, investigative assistants, and all members of the military (active and retired).
The Zoo opens daily at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Cincinnati Zoo members enjoy early entry at 9 a.m. For more information visit www.cincinnatizoo.org.
