Bird Experience kicks off today, May 28, 2022, in the Wings of Wonder Theater

Summer Adventure at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, presented by Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Honda Dealers, is in full swing with the return of the Ameritas Bird Experience and more opportunities to catch the popular Kroger Cheetah Encounter and Grippo’s Barnyard Bonanza.

“My favorite thing to see when I go to the Cheetah Encounter is the look of amazement on visitors’ faces when they see how fast a cheetah can actually run,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard.  “We’re here to inspire visitors with wildlife, and I know we’re doing our job when I see that kind of reaction.”

The Bird Experience offers similar moments of wonder, especially if you’re sitting in the right place when a macaw or hornbill breezes by you.   Head to the Children’s Zoo, and you might even get to participate in the action during a Barnyard Bonanza.  Check the animal encounters schedule before you visit, so you can be sure to catch these experiences and other activities happening around the Zoo.

In addition to the FREE experiences previously mentioned, there are opportunities to add a Wild Encounter or go behind the scenes in different animal areas. It’s also fun, and great for members, to just walk around to see what your favorite animals are up to.  Find them using the Zoo’s new interactive map app!

“The map app is really easy to use and will help visitors find restrooms, food, animal habitats, and all the special summer activities around the Zoo,” said Maynard. “Select your desired destination on the map, and a dotted line will guide you from where you are to where you want to go!”

Another new digital convenience is the ability to order food from Base Camp Café using the mobile ordering option. Order and pick up when it’s ready!

All members of the military — active and retired — are invited to enter the Zoo free of charge on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.  This offer also allows military personnel to purchase up to six (6) half-price admission tickets for members of their immediate family. More information on B105 Military Days can be found here.

The Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Members enjoy early entry starting at 9 a.m. Zoo Babies, presented by General Electric Credit Union, runs through the end of the month.
