“Awws” and “Oohs” for Babies at the Zoo!

CINCINNATI (April 25, 2013) – Get ready to meet the adorable new faces at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden when it kicks off the 27th annual Zoo Babies, presented by Coldwell Banker West Shell on Wednesday, May 1. With more than a dozen babies already born, and more on the way, this year’s Zoo Babies is sure to make you go “aww!”

This year, guests are invited to come see babies of all shapes and sizes.  Some of the babies that will be highlighted this year including the Zoo’s most recognized babyface – Gladys – a three-month-old Western Lowland Gorilla and its tallest Zoo Baby – “Lulu,” the Massai giraffe.  Lulu is six months old and stands at nine feet tall and weighs 500 pounds.  After a long winter she is ready to be outside exploring and experiencing the newly expanded Giraffe Ridge viewing deck.  Lulu can be found at Giraffe Ridge with her parents “Kimba” and “Tessa” and two new female giraffes.

If you find yourself in the Night Hunters exhibit, be sure to keep an eye out for the Zoo’s baby hunters! The Brazilian ocelots, Fennec Foxes and Pallas cat exhibits will all have babies on display. Other new faces will include our African cheetah, “Savanna”, little penguin, king penguin, African penguin, quince monitors, cave whipspiders, and helmeted turtles. The Zoo is also still expecting a few more additions, including an Aardvark and red river hogs.

Visitors can enjoy three weekends of fun family entertainment during Zoo Babies.  Join Barney™ in a Super-Dee-Duper Sing-Along on Saturday, May 4. Come see Barney dance and sing some of his most popular songs! Coming in with a “pow!” the second weekend, families are invited to see “Avengers Assemble” on Saturday, May 11. This exciting show will feature Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man! Then, on Saturday, May 18, it’s Storybook Fun with Curious George. All events will take place at the Wings of Wonder Theater at the times of 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Zoo Babies, presented by Coldwell Banker West Shell, will be celebrated the entire month of May!  The event is FREE with regular Zoo admission.
