Cincinnati businesses join Cincinnati Zoo to celebrate Fiona

CINCINNATI, OH (January 14, 2021) – Fiona, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s most famous resident, will be four years old on Sunday, January 24!  To celebrate, the Zoo is hosting Float4Fiona, a slow-paced race where thousands of numbered apples, now available for purchase, will splash into Hippo Cove and float to the finish line!  The owners of the winning apple, plus three guests, will get to meet the apple of everyone’s eye, birthday girl Fiona!

“We can’t invite people here to witness the race, but we will stream it live on Facebook and announce the winners as the apples cross the finish line,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard. “Since she is the sweetheart of the city, several Zoo partners are offering Fiona-themed goodies to celebrate her birthday.”

Fiona fans can collect and enjoy shirts, beer, cookies, coffee, ice cream, pottery, art, and more!  Here’s Fiona’s birthday goodie guide:

• Cincinnati Zoo Gift Shop – The Zoo Shop has created a special, sparkly birthday t-shirt that’s perfect for people who love hippos and cake!
• Rookwood Pottery is serving up some birthday love with their NEW Fiona Dessert Plate.
• Busken Cookies is selling Fiona’s 4^th birthday pack of eight cookies.
• Brazee Street Studio is offering a Zoom class on 1/21 where you can make a beautiful Fiona plate with materials provided by Brazee.
• Cincy Shirts has created a birthday t-shirt that complements the Float4Fiona event theme (apples), because “Fiona is hip to the core”.
• Listermann Brewing will have Team Fiona beer, on tap and in specially designed cans, available on 1/21 starting at Noon.  They will also be selling a special birthday t-shirt.
• Coffee Emporium is offering bags of Fiona’s Blend and a special Fiona Mocha from 1/21-1/24 that they describe as “A nutty mocha that is warming and fun just like Fiona!!”
• Rally House will reveal its design for a new Fiona t-shirt on her birthday, Jan. 24^th. You can find their other Fiona products at com or at any of the five Rally House Cincinnati metro area locations.
