Run Wild at the Cincinnati Zoo
CINCINNATI- The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden invites guests of all ages to Run Wild during the 34th annual Cheetah Run 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, September 1, at 8 a.m. This year, runners and walkers will be taken through the spectacular 3.1 mile course, which includes unique gardens and exotic animal exhibits, providing scenery unlike any other venue in town.
The 2013 Cheetah Run course will begin and end in the Safari Camp Parking Lot. Pre-registered participants will be equipped with a chip, which provides real-time, accurate race results, as well as receive a performance t-shirt. Similar to last year, when participants register online, they will see an option to fundraise for the Zoo’s Cat Ambassador Program. This easy option allows participants, and their friends and family to help support this great program. The last day for online registration is quickly approaching, Sunday, August 25!
NEW this year, the Zoo is working with the Council for Responsible Sport toward making the Cheetah Run a certified green event. As the Zoo works towards certification in an effort to follow its green mission, online registration and carpooling are strongly encouraged!
Following the main race, children 12 and under are able to participate in a FREE Cheetah “Cub” Fun Run. As a very special prize, all participants in the Cheetah Cub Fun Run will receive a ribbon after crossing the finish line. If guests are interested in seeing an actual Cheetah run, there will be a special run done on the morning of the event at 9:30 a.m. Otherwise, weekly demonstrations are held Fridays through Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and Noon. All of these demonstrations are held at the Kroger Cheetah Encounter Exhibit located in Africa.
The 2013 Cheetah Run supporting sponsors are Humana, Bob Roncker’s Running Spot, Whole Foods, Sobe Life Water. Registration is available, and encouraged, online at http://cincinnatizoo.org/events/cheetah-run/.
