Cincinnati Zoo Temporarily Closing to the Public Starting Sunday, March 15
CINCINNATI (March 14, 2020) – The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden will close to the public starting tomorrow. While there have been no known cases of exposure to COVID-19 at the Zoo, the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, guests, community and animals is our top priority. ⠀
The Zoo is a home away from home for many in this community, and the decision to close was a tough one. However, it is the Zoo’s responsibility to do what it can to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“We know you have concerns about our staff and animals and want to reassure you that our animal team will continue to provide excellent care for our animals,” said Maynard. “We have a surplus of food and essential medical supplies, so we can take care of them while we’re closed.”
In an effort to keep its loyal members and community connected to their favorite animals while the Zoo is closed, Home Safari Facebook Live sessions will be offered weekdays starting on Monday, March 16 at 3pm. Each session will highlight an animal and provide an activity that you can do at home. The first safari will feature everyone’s favorite hippo, Fiona.
The Zoo will remain closed until further notice. All updates will be posted here.⠀⠀
If you have purchased tickets or registered for a program on dates when the Zoo will be closed, you will receive an email detailing your options.
“Our community has always been supportive of the Zoo, through thick and thin. And with that support, we will get through this,” said Maynard.
