CINCINNATI, OH (October 8, 2020) – The Cincinnati Zoo & BOO-tanical Garden is pleased to announce that HallZOOween, presented by Ameritas, is happening this year!  It will look a little different than it has in years past, but ghouls and boys will still go home with plenty of treats and great memories.

“We’ve had to reimagine most of our events this year for the safety of visitors and staff,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard.  “For HallZOOween, we’ll be offering pre-stuffed treat bags instead of inviting kids to trick or treat at multiple stations around the Zoo.  We’re also limiting attendance to ensure that Voldemort and Harry Potter and can stay a zebra length apart on Zoo grounds.”

Children ages 2-12 will receive a voucher upon entering the Zoo that can be redeemed at the Boo-in-a-Bag pick up station located near the Scare-ousel!  Each bag is pre-filled with lots of treats from the Zoo’s generous sponsors.*

Other HallZOOween activities include pumpkin fun for the animals, rides on the Hogwart’s Express, festive fall-themed foods, and fun photo stations throughout the Zoo.

Costumes are encouraged.  Masks, Halloween-themed or not, that adhere to CDC guidelines are required in certain areas of the Zoo.  Click here for costume and mask guidelines.

HallZOOween festivities happen from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on October 17, 18, 24 & 25 and is FREE with Zoo Admission.  Reservations required for all guests, including members.  Members can enjoy Early Entry at 9 a.m. and discounts on food and retail.  The Zoo’s fall membership sale started October 1, so this is a great time to join the Zoo family!

*You must have a voucher to receive a treat bag. Infants under 2 will not receive a treat bag. Treats will be handed out by Zoo volunteers. All volunteers undergo a daily health screening and will be wearing masks and gloves throughout the event.

Palm Oil is used in many of the foods and products we consume every day, including candy.  Selecting products made with Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) helps protect animal habitats (where palm oil is found). The Cincinnati Zoo has created a handy shopping guide to help consumers make orangutan-friendly choices.
