Membership The CREW Building Tour Team is reaching students through tours!
The Lindner Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) is known for its groundbreaking work Saving Species with Science®, but education is also an important part of CREW’s mission. Education programs for school groups in the form of guided tours have been led by the CREW Building Tours Volunteer Team for decades. These tours give 7th grade – college students the opportunity to learn about the four signature projects at CREW and to see research being conducted by scientists in the labs. Guided by a group of knowledgeable volunteers, these tours help students visualize what a career in conservation science can look like.
During the 2026 fiscal year, CREW Building Tour volunteers gave a total of 66 tours to 919 guests from 46 different schools, ranging from local middle schools to universities. CREW has been collecting feedback from the tour groups through a survey with the goal of improving the educational experience for tour attendees. According to survey results from 128 responses collected from November to June, the information presented on the tour was entirely new or mostly new to 90.6% of responders. Additionally, 100% of the survey responders would recommend the CREW tour experience to similar groups!
