Otto M. Budig Manatee Springs is a celebration of Florida’s magnificent biodiversity, highlighting the Florida manatee, and a plea for its long-term conservation. Much of Florida’s biodiversity is under siege. The fate of Florida’s wildlife and wild places is in our hands. Each one of us can make a difference. At an iSaveSpecies station, visitors can examine their conservation values by taking an interactive computer quiz. They are also invited to create digital manatee conservation awareness posters that they can email to friends and family to spread the message. iSaveSpecies is a partnership between the Zoo and Miami University’s Project Dragonfly funded by the National Science Foundation. As a partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Manatee Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release Program, the Zoo provides rehabilitation for rescued manatees that require long-term care before they return to the wild. We have rehabilitated and released twelve manatees to date…learn more about our released manatees.
