5,000 beautifully carved pumpkins ready to amaze visitors

CINCINNATI, OH (October 4, 2024) – Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s newest fall event, which opened last night, is sure to become a must see for Cincinnatians and tourists coming to the area for Blink and other bright offerings in October. Jack O’Lantern Glow, presented by Medpace, is the largest illuminated pumpkin show in the tri-state area and offers visitors an immersive walkthrough among thousands of hand-carved pumpkins and fall displays.

“The feedback from opening night was so positive!  Visitors who had seen the pumpkins during the day could not believe how extraordinary they look after dark,” said Cincinnati Zoo events manager, Sydney Boudreaux. “The detail in the art really comes through when you walk the trail at night.  It’s spectacular.”

The themed areas along the trail include nods to Cincinnati landmarks, businesses, and sports teams in addition to animals, princesses, and just playful pumpkins.  There’s a scavenger hunt that includes finding a pumpkin with the famous Waldo character carved on it.  This pumpkin with move each night, so you can’t tell your friend where Waldo is!

“The event is family friendly.  It opens early enough for those with early bedtimes and gets even better after sunset,” said Boudreaux. “It’s also a great setting for a date night.”

All visitors, including members, must reserve a date and time specific ticket for Jack O’Lantern Glow in advance. Tickets are $25 for adults 13+, $20 for children 3-12 years. Members receive a $3 discount per ticket. Children under 3 are free. The Zoo’s other family-friendly fall event, HallZOOween, is back this year and will be even better with 5,000 Jack O’Lantern pumpkins in place. HallZOOween happens the last three weekends in October and is free with Zoo admission and free for members.
